While I’m on the topic of prop documents, this has been bothering me for months: a while back I was watching TV ((It was 90210. My wife was watching it. I swear. “And here come the pretzels…”)), and I saw a poster in the background that looked quite a bit like Saul Bass‘s famous Vertigo […]

While perusing through one of the many beautiful type specimens at the International Printing Museum, a looseleaf page advertising “incredible, logic-defying, outrageous secret knowledge” fell out unexpectedly ((Seriously, though, if anyone knows of a film studio or prop house looking for an obsessive level of realism in fake, period documents, please get in touch.)). Lisa Folberg contacted us to discuss options for producing a set of creative, limited-run wedding invitations. I won’t repeat myself too much, but when we left off, the plates were made, proofs had been printed, but the run had not been completed. […]

As part of Three Steps Ahead’s new graphic identity, I’ve been working on creating a business card that speaks to where we’re at today. Branding has become an incredibly integral part of what we do for our clients, and a strong, new identity for Three Steps Ahead has been a priority for me for quite […]
Josh Korwin has been running Three Steps Ahead, a creative design studio, since the late 1990s. He has been a typography nerd for as long as he can remember, and rabidly collects (and sometimes sells) just about everything with neat type or lettering on it. While graphic design and web design fill most of his days, he dabbles in photography and letterpress printing.
