Los Angeles Printers Fair 2012
Categories: Case studies
Here’s a sneak preview of the 2012 Los Angeles Printers Fair show guide cover, which will be given to all attendees of the Fair and also be available for purchase as a limited edition letterpress poster. The Fair is taking place at the International Printing Museum in Carson, California on Saturday, October 6th. Among all of the other festivities, visitors will be able to check out the Museum’s latest acquisition: an absolutely gorgeous, early 1960s Heidelberg KS Cylinder press. The Heidelberg Cylinder is without a doubt the finest press that was ever produced for commercial letterpress work. Once we got ours in running condition, it was a dream to print with.
The design of this three-color piece started with a lockup of vintage letterpress cuts culled from the Museum’s collection, printed twice (rotated 180°). Featured type is House Industries’ Eames Century Modern and Lost Type Co-op’s Sullivan.
Paper is Royal Sundance Felt, 100# Cover, in 100 PC White (100% post-consumer!), generously donated by Neenah.
Thanks to Bill Berkuta, Brent, and Martin Sprints for their expertise, guidance, and troubleshooting. Extra special thanks to Armand Veronico for pulling a night shift with me to get this thing printed.
More photos will be available after the Fair.
